James Allen Contracting has been completing home remodeling projects since 1977. While primarily serving the Northern Virginia area, Jim will travel to do work at client request.

Originally trained as a tile setter, Jim has studied the plumbing and electrical trades, and worked in just about every other trade involved in home remodeling and construction; not so he can "do it all," but to possess the knowledge required to integrate the various trades into a finished project that reflects the highest quality of execution.

Jim begins the process with a home visit, the purpose of which is two-fold: for you to articulate your ultimate goal for the space(s), and for Jim to get a basic understanding of your lifestyle and how the remodeling project aims to enhance it. Jim will help you to fully explore your home's potential and tackle your remodel, all the while respecting and adhering to your budget.

Now equipped with the general scope of your project, Jim documents your remodeling ideas in a comprehensive master plan, detailing phases, items, and approximate time frames. Costs are pulled from the spreadsheet and a draft proposal is then composed and submitted to the client. Once the variables are worked out, the proposal is re-written, listing items in detail, which ensures transparency and clarity in the contract. The several phases of proposal and contract submission exist to alleviate conflict once the project begins.

Jim is hands-on and on-site at your home. He is particular about co-workers and specifically selects excellent tradesmen for the regulated trades such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
